Security Key NFC and Security Key C NFC — entry level

What is the difference between the YubiKey 5 NFC and the Security Key NFC?
The 5 series adds OTP, PIV and OpenPGP to FIDO2. The Security Key only supports FIDO2 and FIDO U2F. If you need those protocols, choose the 5 series. First check that your service supports FIDO2.
Does the YubiKey work with iPhone?
Yes. NFC models work by tapping the key against the iPhone, with no cables. On an iPhone 15 or later with USB-C, you can also plug in the YubiKey 5C NFC directly.
Do I need two YubiKeys?
A second key as a backup is recommended. If you lose your main key, you need the second one to regain access. Register both on all your services from the start.
Does the YubiKey Bio work with mobile phones?
It has no NFC, so it won't work by proximity. You can only use it plugged in via USB-A or USB-C, depending on the model.
What is the difference between the YubiKey Bio and the YubiKey 5?
The Bio reads your fingerprint. No YubiKey 5 model has a fingerprint reader. The 5 series adds OTP, PIV and OpenPGP; the Bio offers FIDO2 and FIDO U2F.
What is the difference between the YubiKey 5C NFC and the YubiKey 5C?
NFC. Both are USB-C and have the same protocols. The 5C NFC can also be tapped against a phone. The 5C only works plugged into a port.
What if I buy the YubiKey 5 NFC but my computer only has USB-C?
You can authenticate directly via NFC from your phone, or use a standard USB-A to USB-C adapter.
