Common Mistakes That Prevent Electric Scooter Registration with the DGT

Is your registration process stuck?

This post explains the most common errors when registering an electric scooter with the DGT.

The most common error: the file won’t upload

This is the issue we see most often. The system keeps loading, does not move forward, or throws an error right when uploading the documents. In most cases the reason is always the same: the file is too large.

The file is too large

The system cannot process it and the procedure gets blocked.

High-quality scans

PDFs scanned at maximum resolution usually exceed the size limit.

Photos with excessive resolution

Direct photos from a phone without compression can cause problems.

✅ Trick that prevents 90% of upload issues

Before uploading any document, check that the file size is not too large. Preferably use PDF with normal resolution. If the file is too heavy, compress it before uploading.

How to prepare your files correctly

1
Take the photo with good lighting, not maximum resolution

You do not need the highest camera quality. A clear photo with medium resolution is enough and much lighter.

2
Avoid scans in "high quality"

If you use a scanner, choose standard resolution (150–200 dpi is more than enough for documents).

3
Compress the file if it is too large

You can use free online tools such as ilovepdf.com or smallpdf.com to reduce the file size before uploading.

4
Preferably use PDF format

PDF usually works better than JPG or PNG in the DGT system.

Other common mistakes to avoid

⚠️
Trying to request the license plate without having the registration number

You must first complete the registration with the DGT and obtain your number. Without it, the plate cannot be manufactured.

⚠️
Uploading files that are too large

The most common error. Always compress files before uploading.

⚠️
Using blurry photos or incomplete documents

The document must be clearly readable. If the data cannot be seen properly, the procedure may be rejected.

⚠️
Confusing the registration number with other codes

The VMP registration number is assigned by the DGT when you register the vehicle. It is not the serial number or the invoice number.

Once you have the registration number

With the number in hand the process is immediate:

1
Enter the registration number

This is the code assigned by the DGT when you completed the registration.

2
Place the license plate order

The authorized manufacturer manages the validation with the DGT and the plate production.

3
Receive your plate within 24–48 hours

Then install it on the license plate holder in the visible rear area of the scooter.
